Advocacy Fellowship Opportunities

Join a network of advocacy fellows of all backgrounds whose U.S. Representatives or Senators are on the Congressional subcommittees of Appropriations that fund foreign aid. You will be trained and supported in effective citizen advocacy, urging these key Members of Congress to increase the effectiveness of our global health programs.

Our work 2025 includes advocacy for U.S. global health programs to receive the highest possible funding in the next fiscal year, with no cuts to frontline activities.  We are also advocating that Congress require the Administration to report spending on frontline health workers in each global health program.

In addition, we are working to see that global health funds appropriated by Congress for the current fiscal year are fully spent by the Administration.

We are seeking constituents of these Representatives and Senators, to work about 6-8 hours a week for a minimum of 12 months, with regular small-group coaching by video chat. All activities can be conducted remotely.

 Learning outcomes:

  • Experience with citizen lobbying actions such as writing letters, talking with Congressional staff, meeting a Member of Congress.

  • Detailed knowledge of the Congressional appropriations process and how to influence it.

  • Knowledge of global health concerns based on your research.

  • Experience with organizing others to engage in these activities.

Qualifications:

  • Reliability; promptness in responding to communications

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Helpful: experience in advocacy, outreach, organizing and training people
